They are best known for their highly controversial calendar, which many believe prophesied the end of the world. However, they are much more than just people who created a calendar. SOMETHING EPIC SENTENCE. I chose my article on the giant Mayan stucco frieze because it showed another side of Mayan culture that was not centered on their famous Mayan calendar. The Mayans are a people located both in southern Mexico, in the provinces of Chiapas and Tabasco, and in northern Central America. includes Yucatan, Guatemala and Belize.
