    Peter Quint and the governess simply had authority over a house with two innocent children and they wreaked havoc throughout the house. It would therefore be chaotic if this 'lower class' group had supreme power over the political, social and economic system of England. It proves that the customs of social class and authority of the Victorian era should be maintained in the hands of elites who, by virtue of their birthright to rule, possess the innate skills and knowledge necessary to maintain a peaceful and orderly world.
