“Every piece of the past tells something of what we were or what we are. By expanding our connections with past generations, we commit to future generations and honor the present. »(Quote from the “Colombian Minister of Culture, Elvira Cuervo de Jaramillo”)The past brings us knowledge and understanding of our culture and traditions. These different cultures allow people to know their beliefs, religions and customs. Every culture has its own sacred places that help people develop their specific identity. The destruction of such places destroys not only cultural identities, but also history, because it is our past that helped us become the individuals we are today. Each person or community belongs to a certain heritage. We need this heritage as a collective resource for society's distinct subcultural identity. In the past, all societies belonging to different religions lived together in the subcontinent, respecting each other's institutions. Shortly after 1947, when Muslims claimed their own homeland, the situation changed completely. Most of the religious institutions belonging to different societies have been destroyed and the rest are being demolished. Religion-based violence, hatred and extremism began to increase. I am concerned why there is no tolerance between people belonging to different religions? Why is there no passion to preserve cultural identities or heritage that belongs to the past? Every place of worship must be respected, whether we believe in it or not. We were made to respect each other, we were made to tolerate. My initial research was based on the question of whether, in an Islamic context... middle of paper ...... not only cause intolerance, but have failed to provide any legal certainty to religious minorities.ConclusionLike the United States, our government should also begin working toward the preservation of religious institutions because they provide a means of tourism that ultimately benefits our economy. Not everyone feels a connection to their cultural heritage, but many people do. Some may think that traditions are outdated and no longer important in our modern times. Maybe others don't. Preserving historical sites as well as religious institutions from different cultures strengthens the community. If the government starts taking a stand in favor of minorities in Pakistan and providing funds for their places of worship, it will enable new construction projects and initiate various activities including heritage tourism, economic development and social upliftment..
