    As this was the second course, I had become more open-minded to the course after being persuaded to do my best, despite my lack of experience in the field of study and my inability to see its relevance for my pursuit of law studies. My attention was caught from the start by a summary of the nature of science and technology. This solidified my understanding of science as being understanding-oriented and dealing with the natural world and technology as an application-based concept related to the human-made world. From my understanding, inductive reasoning is a useful tool for creating scientific theories with little or no experimentation. However, this can be controversial on certain aspects where the law does not apply. Deductive reasoning has also been described as a type of valid reasoning that begins with a premise with the goal of discovering new information or proving a theory. It was said to be considered the “standard” approach because it involved a testable hypothesis and experimentation. Through the use of examples, I clearly understood how deductive reasoning is used to discover new “ironclad” facts. It occurred to me that deductive reasoning is used daily by everyone without any knowledge. As such, for future reference, I plan to use it more frequently to make informed decisions as it is a useful tool. I also noted that we should not condemn inductive reasoning because both techniques are useful in certain circumstances. I agreed that hypothetico-deductive reasoning is the ideal research method because it involves the use of hypothesis testing through a series of equally important steps to determine whether the hypothesis is true. I have observed that this involves the most experimentation and research to find an answer as to whether the identified hypothesis is correct or not. This method, I believe, is the most important and best method to use. However, it was repeated that the other two methods should not be condemned.
