Sexual abuse has been defined to include a range of activities that involve the child witnessing adult sexual activities (Conte & Shore, 1982). This is also one of the problems faced by social workers in the field of social work. All categories related to sexual abuse, neglect, abandonment, etc. constitute child abuse. According to Faller (1981), child neglect refers to harm to a child's health or wealth by a person responsible for the child's health, which manifests itself in neglectful treatment which also includes failure to provide sufficient food, clothing, shelter, etc. Social workers need to be aware of the signs of abuse and neglect, as they will need to conduct an assessment of the child to know when to refer a case to protective services (Faller, 1981).
