  • Essay / The process of construction of bored piles - 806

CONSTRUCTION OF BORED PILE The construction of bored piles is done using rotary drilling machines suitable according to the diameter, depth, soil condition and the construction method. Boreholes are generally stabilized with temporary or permanent casing. The commonly used material for casing is steel and it is also commonly referred to as steel casing. The length of the steel box is also determined from the ground conditions found at the actual site. LOCATION The location of the bored piles shall be traced and marked by the subcontractor's surveyor according to the approved site plans submitted by the Consultant. Survey details for each location must include reduced levels and coordinates. The place which is surveyed and marked as the pile position should not be disturbed before the drilling work begins. DRILLINGAll associated technical information such as presence of services, pile coordinates, platform and cut-off levels, validity of drawings, etc. be verified by the customer representative to begin operations. If necessary, after having determined the location of the pile by the surveyor, a temporary casing will be installed depending on the ground conditions. The vertical accuracy of the enclosure will be checked during the installation process. The rotating Kelly bar and auger or bucket method are used to carry out excavation of soil inside the casing or drilled holes. Once the drilling process begins, the auger or drilling bucket is then used to drill into the ground to the required depth or until it hits hard rock capable of supporting a load. The moment when hard rock is encountered when drilling as defined in the specification, for example, once augering or drilling...... middle of paper ...... concreted using the “tremie” method. The type of concrete used will be self-compacting mixed concrete and it will be discharged through a tremie pipe, which will then be lowered uniformly aligned in the middle down to the bottom of the drilled hole followed by concrete filling. The concrete level in the borehole was recorded after each truck was unloaded and the plot of the graph will be contrary to theory. The concrete should be embedded continuously over a single length to ensure that the flow of concrete is level with the impurities, visible in the upper part of the concrete rising head. Testing of all piling work shall be carried out following the instructions of the Engineer or his representative. Completed piles should be temporarily fortified and backfilled to ground level with suitable material the following day..
